Hello, survivors!
If you’ve been building up your shelter or venturing into the streets lately, you may already have unlocked a few new achievements. We wanted to take a moment to walk through the latest changes now available in Urban Strife, including 40 localized achievements, navigation fixes, and adjustments to campaign balance.
Your survival story, one achievement at a time
Surviving the apocalypse takes more than a steady aim. The 40 achievements recognize progress across several parts of your campaign:
- Character progression: developing perks and managing wounds.
- Campaign milestones: recruiting NPCs, uncovering secrets, and dealing with hordes.
- Shelter development: upgrading your base and putting its crafting industries to work.
Whether you’re looking after your survivors, following a lead into dangerous territory, or building a more capable shelter, there are milestones to pursue along the way.
Keeping supply runs worthwhile
A well-stocked shelter is a comforting sight. Keeping it that way should still give you reasons to venture outside.
We’ve made light adjustments to loot on the early maps to keep exploration and scavenging relevant as you approach the mid-game. The aim is to make supplies worth searching for, even once your shelter is well established.
Loot remains deliberately generous overall. These are small adjustments to the campaign’s resource flow, with enough room for players to keep their campaigns moving.
More breathing room on Hard
Hordes bring pressure, danger, and a serious interruption to whatever you had planned for the day. On Hard difficulty, though, they were arriving too frequently, sometimes once a day.
Their spawn frequency has been adjusted to give survivors more breathing room between encounters. The update also includes navigation fixes.
Behind the balance
There’s a lot going on beneath the surface of the shelter economy.
A growing population consumes more resources. Enemy numbers change with difficulty and horde spawns, affecting how much loot you can collect. Dismantling items adds materials to the mix, while trader exploits can push the economy further off balance.
These systems are interconnected: even reducing the frequency of hordes changes the amount of loot available during a campaign.
For that reason, we’re taking a measured approach. Resources are generous by design to help ensure campaigns remain possible to finish.
All of these changes are already live. Take a look at the achievement list, check on your survivors, and see what your next trip beyond the shelter brings home.
